Mary Illes was in the original Anastasia First National Tour, where she understudied and performed the role of the Dowager Empress, originated the role of Golde in Fidler afn Dakh (Yiddish Fiddler on the Roof) at NYTF, and has understudied and played leading roles in five Broadway shows: The Phantom of the Opera (Madame Giry), The Music Man (Marian), The Scarlet Pimpernel (Marie), Steel Pier (Precious), and She Loves Me (Amalia 1993 revival). She has sung with orchestras, toured, played Dona Lucia D'Alvadorez in Goodspeed's Where's Charley?, and played Gumbie /Griddlebone in Cats in French and German. She teaches voice and audition coaching, and is known for her positive, encouraging approach and healthy technique.
