MARKETING

GRAPHICS
Design a graphic/ poster that holds key information for your audience. Examples:

  • Name of your school/ theatre

  • Name of the event and short description

  • Name and photo of the artist, and any exciting credits (i.e. Tony nominations, recognizable shows, etc.).

  • If you are cross-promoting your upcoming musical, be sure to include this in your ads.

ARTIST MEDIA KITS

MEDIA KITS
You will be provided with access to a comprehensive online media kit that includes helpful promotional material for your specific artist, including:

  • Bio

  • Promotional photos/ videos

  • Song choices, and artist preferences.

PUBLICITY

CASTING
The more people involved in the production, the higher the attendance and the larger the community impact will be. Your first targeted audience will be people already connected to those involved with the show.

  • If your concert is in conjunction with your musical, the entire cast of your musical should be involved.

  • Additionally, audition or invite other performers in the program, who are not necessarily cast in the musical, to participate.

  • Invite the other fine arts departments to become involved. Have the choir students prepare a few songs, include the band/ orchestra to accompany the event. Assemble a large backstage/ technical crew to assist with various tasks for the performance

COLLABORATING WITH OTHER THEATRES/ SCHOOLS
It may behoove you to involve another local theatre or school. Inviting other members of the community outside of your direct program can be extremely helpful in reaching new and larger audiences.

  • Invite a neighboring school/ program to prepare a song(s) and include those numbers in the show.

  • Involving performers from neighboring programs will draw in their friends, family, and supporters.

  • Invite students from the lower or higher schools (respectively) to perform in a song.

SELLING TICKETS

VIP/ MEET & GREET
In some cases, you may sell a limited number of tickets at a higher price and arrange a 30-minute meet-and-greet with the artist and for VIP buyers only. This is a popular way to sell premium tickets at higher prices.
NOTE: This must be pre-approved.

  • Premium, centrally located seats in the theatre.

  • Includes “Meet & Greet” with the artist. This typically takes place 30-minutes prior to curtain (i.e. 6:20-6:50pm before a 7pm show).

  • Meet & Greets may only be arranged prior to a performance, not after.

  • This is a great opportunity for photos, autographs, special patron introductions, etc.
